Rabina Jaiswal shares her feelings after winning the coveted Saraswati Trophy for the Year 2013-14
Shri Shikshayatan College has been more than a college to me, it’s been a second home.
Ssc has taught me to respect one and all, love my juniors, obey my teachers, build great friendships and last but not the least develop leadership qualities through which I can serve my nation.
The sports championship taught me to be competitive. Yes, I cried after our department came second in the championship after all our efforts but inculcated in me values of sportsmanship to not lose heart and play the sport in the right spirit.
Srijan had given me sleepless nights. I had to keep my council together in the toughest of times. Our meetings had fruitful and impressive ideas coming up on the other hand sometimes it ended up with a fight amongst the best of friends. The security chaos just before our main star performance taught me to deal with real life pressure situations where lives are at stake. At the end of it the lighted lantern going up in the air gave me a sense of satisfaction of pulling off an awesome event.
The professors and teachers at my college were strict with the academic regulations and punctuality and yet supportive and caring enough to back me in all my endeavour. The non-teaching staff that is the office staff were always by my side whenever I needed them showing there love and support and guiding me at each and every stage of Srijan.
I always believe that we should leave the earth better than what we got when we were born. Leadership Training Service gave me a chance to participate in tree plantation campaign, cloth and book collection drives and organising “Ignite” a winter carnival for a noble cause, helped me to build up soft skills and taught me management skills.
National Social Scheme gave me a chance to teach and interact with the underprivileged slum children. It was an eye opening experience and it taught me virtues of compassion and humility. Two essential virtues for a woman of dignity and honour.
My whole journey will be incomplete without mentioning a special thanks to Dr. Aditi Dey my principal ,although she has been at the helm of affiar only for a year she but i developed a very strong bond and she nurtured many values and qualities in me. She served as my strength throughout Srijan I grew a lot under her guidance which would help me in facing the real world with confidence and courage.
I would like to thank each and every single person with whom I came cross in the three golden years of my college life as each n everyone gave some experience happy or sad but it taught me the reality of life and helped me in growing and becoming what I am today.
Saraswati Trophy is a life time achievement for me and will always be near my heart.
